About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Student Journal of Professional Practice and Academic Research is a peer reviewed open access journal, devoted to professional education. All submissions are made by students in higher education who engage with professional education in any discipline.

We are looking for submissions on professional education across all disciplines, for example nursing, law and business. The journal recognises the importance of reflection in professional education and practice and we welcome thought provoking pieces, with question posing dialogues building conversations between different professions and practices. However, we welcome a range of publications, including research papers and dissertations.

We welcome any papers which are relevant to professional education and submitted by students.

Peer Review Process

The Peer Review Process differs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Undergraduate students submitting to this journal will not undergo a blind peer review. All work will be reviewed, but students will be in direct contact with their reviewer.

Postgraduate students submitting to this journal will have their work blind peer-reviewed by an Editorial Board Member and a student reviewer. Feedback from one or both of these reviews will be given to the author by the Managing Editor. Postgraduate students wanting to submit articles for review must remove any identifying details from the paper before submission.

More information of this process can be found in the section, About this Publishing System.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

This journal aims to unite students and staff, by helping students to engage in the publishing process with support and guidance form experienced members of academia. We want to create a culture of collegiality and scholarship between staff, students and alumni. This will be achieved by the feedback students’ gain on their submitted work and by students working as reviewers with those on the editorial board, to gain further experience of the publishing process.
